John Massie Receives Paden Gray Eagle Award

SAN ANTONIO -- This year's recipient of the Cline R. Paden Gray Eagle Award is John Massie.  He was given this honor at the Annual Sunset Vision Workshop held January 20-23 in Lubbock.  This Award is given to an outstanding alumnus of the Sunset International Bible Institute.

Massie graduated from the Sunset program in 1980 and went on to graduate from ACU in 1981 with a degree in Ministry and Evangelism.  He then moved to San Antonio to serve as the Involvement Minister at the MacArthur Park Church of Christ.   In 1988, Massie and his wife Earlene planted an inner-city mission church called, Alamo City Church of Christ, and has focused on the unevangelized areas of San Antonio.

Massie has spoken at workshops, seminars and gospels meetings across the United States and in many different foreign countries.  He has served as an instructor for SIBI in Greece, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Albania, and Singapore.

John and Earlene have two children, Chad and Michelle.  Chad and his wife Cassandra work with the New Braunfels Church of Christ.  Michelle and her husband, Ron Bamburg, also serve in ministry.  John and Earlene have four grandsons and one great granddaughter.

The Cline R. Paden Gray Eagle Award is named for the founder of SIBI, Cline R. Paden, and is meant to honor his memory by honoring those special members of the SIBI alumni who serve the Lord's kingdom in an extraordinary way.
