Lackland Terrace Church of Christ

The Lackland Terrace Church of Christ was established in 1961 when 5 families began meeting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Davis (7423 Westfield Drive, San Antonio).
Families represented in 1961 included: Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery, Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Al Duty. Al Duty became the first preacher, but was not serving full-time.
1961 - Church met at 108 Pilar Drive; borrowed benches from Natalia congregation; borrowed chairs from Grove Avenue and Houston Terrace congregations.
1964 - Jefferson congregation helped to build a moveable type auditorium and classroom building.
1968 - First elders were selected: Melvin Gambrell, John Murphy, Rex Oberg and Joe Whitson, Jr.
1970 - Built current auditorium
1973 - Built additional classroom and annex
1974 - Built large classroom wing
1978 - Planted Northwest Church of Christ (Fred Massey and Bob Harris were first elders)
