CHS News: In Memory of Alice

In Memory of Alice

by Janice Thompson

SAN ANTONIO -- While preparing to return to school after spring break, the Christian Heritage Schools family was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our dear friend, co-worker and

teacher, Alice Pruett.

Ms. Pruett began teaching at Christian Heritage Schools in 1992. She taught third through

sixth grades and was adamant that she would not teach anything above that, (mainly because older students would be taller than she was!) Her last three years she enjoyed teaching

third grade.

We held a special chapel on Monday, March 16th for CHS students and staff to honor Ms.

Pruett and the God whom she served. Following chapel Ms. Pruett’s third graders spent the morning reminiscing and sharing their favorite “Ms. Pruett stories.” Lots of tears and laughter were shared across the CHS campus as we remembered Alice Ann.

A memorial service at Journey Fellowship was attended by several hundred people. Over 100 current and former CHS families, staff, and students joined in the celebration of Ms Pruett’s life. It was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady who will long be remembered and loved.

Knowing that Christian Heritage was an important part of her life, her family requested donations be made to the school in her memory. Plans are being made for a permanent memorial on the CHS campus for our friend, Alice Pruett.

Those who would like to participate in this memorial can send donations to the school here: Christian Heritage Schools, 16316 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, TX 78232.
