CHS students reflect on Abilene trip
SAN ANTONIO -- Recently juniors and seniors at Christian Heritage School visited ACU for Summit and a tour of the campus. Below, they tell their thoughts as they reflected on their recent visit.
Gary Norman: "Still an hour and half away from Abilene the noise in the van grew silent as we experienced a blow out – and soon found out the spare tire was not in a drivable condition. Mr. Martin to the rescue!
"A quick trip to the small town of Santa Anna for a replacement tire and we are back on the road to visit a local mechanic in Santa Anna for a quick fix of leaking coolant. Finally, we are back on the road to ACU!"
While at ACU students had an opportunity to attend sessions by Christian leaders from around the country as part of The Summit. Here are few of their thoughts:
Jeff Remmert: "I really enjoyed the flow of the 'Getting It Right with Your Money' workshop and the “get right to the point” tone of this seminar. What really stuck with me involved the great principles of Godly living: God gets the first and best of everything, giving should always be a joyful experience, and we should give as we’ve been given."
Demi Craven: "During 'Media, Media on the Screen,' the presenter, Brit’ny Spain, talked about what the media is doing to us today. One of the most interesting statistics was that kids spend about 6 ½ hours a day consuming media.
"She had us think about that in comparison to how much time we spend talking to our parents. The class pointed out several great ideas to think about."
Roman Martin: "Beverly Ross was a very inspiring speaker; in 'Treasures of Darkness,' she spoke of her life as a Christian and the winding rough road that she was on.
"Her message was based on how to grieve for lost ones, how to be ready to fight for Christ in the spiritual war, and how she was able to get back up and keep fighting."
