Sunny Glen breaks ground for pavilion
by Terry L. Moore, MS, LPC, LCCA, Executive Director / CEO
SAN BENITO -- Thanks to a generous gift from the Estate of D.J. and Anna Syrja, construction is now underway of a new “Praise & Worship Pavilion” at Sunny Glen.
The pavilion will enrich the lives of our children and all others who gather under its open and spacious design. Located in the center of the campus, it will allow Sunny Glen to accommodate larger groups for events such as youth rallies, worship services, alumni reunions, ceremonies, and civic events.
The Syrjas’ faithful relationship to the Sunny Glen ministry began in the 1950s. Having no children of their own, they reserved a special place in their hearts for Sunny Glen’s forgotten children. The Syrjas were especially concerned for the children’s spiritual welfare, and the Praise and Worship Pavilion will be an ideal way to remember them.
Sunny Glen Children’s Home is simply a reflection of the Christ-like supporters, workers and volunteers who serve the children. D.J. and Anna Syrja’s life-long legacy of caring for the poor and broken-hearted continues to reflect the light of Christ.
This generous gift will allow the Sunny Glen ministry to break new ground for future generations and plant seeds of hope of a risen Savior. May God richly bless the Syrja family and all of you who support this ministry of love.
