W. Laurel St. to host 6th Annual Health Fair/Picnic

  

SAN ANTONIO – The Laurel Street Church of Christ will host its 6th Annual Health Fair/Picnic on June 5, under the big tents here from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Members of the community and the surrounding area are invited to participate in the many wellness checks that will be performed by medical volunteers.

The Blood and Tissue Clinic will perform blood sugar analysis, blood pressure checks and cholesterol tests. There will also be a blood donation center for those able to contribute.

Representatives from the Heart Association as well as a dental company will be on site. The San Antonio Police Department will take children's finger prints for their parents' records.

Parents will also be invited to register their children to participate in the upcoming Vacation Bible School which will start on Monday, June 7. In addition to the health fair, there will be a picnic for the community as well as games for the children. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring friends.

At Laurel Street Church of Christ, the motto is “There are no strangers here; only friends who have not met.” Baron Jones is the current minister and Joseph C. Walsh, Jr., continues to serve on the ministerial staff.

At last year's VBS, Laurel Street had a record number of over 180 participants. The theme for this year's session is “Rise and Shine for Jesus.”
