Letter of the Joplin saints to San Marcos

SAN MARCOS -- The church in Joplin, MO, provided an update to the brethren of the University church here. The South Texas church, along with many others in the region, had sent a contribution after the spring tornados that devastated the city.

The elders wrote, "Words cannot adequately express our feeling for the outpouring of love from our friends and brothers and sisters in Christ, nationwide.

"Our building, which sustained some severe damage, is getting back to normal. The roof is almost completed and the carpet will be installed in a couple of weeks. The inside damage is being worked on.

"Several of our members lost their homes and we lost our dear friends, Bill and Sarah Anderson. Bill was a deacon. Their two children survived the storm. Please pray for Quinton and Grace as they face the future."

The letter closed with gratitude for prayers and the request that they continue. Other churches should be getting their letters as the brethren catch up on sending the thank-yous.

Richard Chambers is the Joplin minister. Elders Doug Douthitt, Jerry Howell, and Richard White signed the letter. More details are available on the church web site located here: www.joplinchurchofchrist.com

Said Minister Wayne Jones, "Many in this congregation were students when John was the McCarty director. John's influence and hard work for McCarty in the past have helped it become what it is today."

Trent Kennedy is the campus minister. The Moore family currently works with the church in Dripping Springs.
