Summer Youth Series takes on new format

PLEASANTON -- According to Wes Wilson, the Summer Youth Series (SYS) will take on a new format this year in an attempt to be more effective at reaching the program goals. Wilson will direct the June 19 session at Pleasanton which begins at 10:30 a.m. and concludes around 3:30 p.m.

This year the theme is "Hear My Prayer" focusing on Psalm 4. Wilson says the theme addresses issues teens face as they wrestle with prayer in their own lives.

Psalm 4 will be read at each meeting this summer, and a speaker teach on the subject of prayer.

SYS typically met during the week, but hurried schedules short-circuited fellowship. Group leaders believe that the new approach will allow more time for relationships to build between youth groups who attended.

Wilson plans to break into smaller groups for some activities so that kids from different congregations can get to know each other better.

Other SYS meetings are planned for July 10 at the Northeast Church of Christ and July 31 at the Dellcrest Church of Christ. Time for both events has yet to be announced. For more information on the SYS program, contact Wilson at the Pleasanton congregation at (830) 281-5511.
